HomeClub Rules
1. No alcoholic beverages allowed at Helwig field per State Park Rules.

2. Entrance gate is to be locked when no members are present. The last member at the field should lock the gate when they leave. Do not leave the gate unlocked for guests.

3. Flying Hours are when the park is open, from sunrise to sunset. Internal combustion powered aircraft and turbines should refrain from flying before 10am on weekends (including holidays) and 8am on weekdays.

4. Only Pax Aero pilots in possession of an AMA card and FAA UAS registration number may fly at Helwig Field. All pilots should exhibit demonstrated ability to a club officer, instructor, or established member with their aircraft to fly unmonitored. Members should consider reaching out to a club instructor, contest director, AMA waiver holder for guidance and instruction as required.

5. Guests of members may only fly under the sponsorship of the hosting Pax Aero member. Each guest is limited to five (5) visits per year before being asked to join the club.

6. No more than four (4) aircraft in the air at one time and one helicopter/multirotor at the helicopter pad, aside from special events (eg. combat). Helicopters/multirotors in the main flying area shall yield to fixed wing aircraft when it comes to taking off and landing.

7. The helicopter/multirotor area is reserved for sizes of helicopters of 430 mm blades or smaller or multirotors under 10 lb, aside from only test hovering for a larger helicopter. Helicopters should avoid flying over the edge of the runway when other aircraft are in the air.

8. The pavilion area is for assembling models only. No fueling or running of engines or electric motors. The flight stands are for fueling and running of engines and motors. Do not start your engine or run up a model with a pilot in the pilot box directly in front of you. The airplane should be restrained with a person or mechanical-hold back device during engine starting and ground runups. Engine break-ins are to be done in the helicopter hover area.

9. Standing in the pilot's box and using a spotter is highly recommended but not mandatory. FPV pilot's must have a spotter per AMA Doc. 550. All pilots MUST stand in the pilot boxes and behind assumed line formed at the back of the pilot box. If no other aircraft are operating off the main runway, pilots may execute a takeoff, hand launch or taxi test standing on the runway.

10. Pilots should perform their initial turn after take off away from the pit area and not perform maneuvers or landing approaches over the parking area, spectator area, pits, helicopter pad or pilot areas. Maneuvers should not be performed closer than the centerline of the runway.

11. Flight should be limited to the green areas (and blue areas for helicopter and multirotor hover area).

12. After landing, pilots may taxi up to but not past the edge of the taxiways. The area between the flight stands and Pilot's boxes is an aircraft movement area. Be vigilant! Shut down engines as soon as practical.

13. Pilot or spotter shall give verbal notice of take offs and landings and direction. Pilots and aircraft in the air have priority over all other pilots and staged aircraft. Pilots shall verbally announce if they are crossing onto runway or within the designated flying area when aircraft are in the air. Vocalize your intensions!

14. There is no flying allowed when field maintenance is being performed, except at the discretion and with approval from those performing the field maintenance.

15. All animals must be leashed; clean up after your pet.

16. Please take your trash with you. Smokers should be courteous of those in close proximity and discard cigarette butts appropriately.

17. Operation of fueled, turbine-engine aircraft is permitted. Turbine aircraft may only fly when no other aircraft are in the air, except for the helicopter hover area.

18. The Field Safety Officer (FSO) or designated club officer has authority to ground any pilot or aircraft deemed unsafe.

19. Repeated or serious violations may result in temporary or permanent suspension of flying privileges.

20. Safety is everyone's responsibility—report concerns promptly and respectfully.

21. Flying alone is discouraged.
