The Patuxent Aeromodelers is an AMA sanctioned and FAA FRIA approved RC aircraft club located in St Mary's County Maryland.The club is located within Greenwell State Park at Helwig Field, located on Steer Horn Neck Road in Hollywood, Maryland. The flying site is owned by the State of Maryland and is part of Greenwell State Park. We have an ongoing lease agreement with the State that has been beneficial for both parties.

Helwig Field features a 300′ x 40′ synthetic runway with a total runway area 650′ x 125′ grass runway with overrun areas at each end of the field. A sunshade area is also on site with picnic tables, and work benches. Our pit area features waist high tables for working on aircraft, knee-high safety fencing to separate the pit area from the runway, and individual pilot flying stations.

We fly year round! Guests are encouraged to drop by and meet with the club members and watch the fun and flying. The busiest flying time is Sunday afternoon. You can also send us a message through our website and we can put you in touch with a member to meet you at the field.

Turn-by-turn Directions: Hollywood, MD—From the intersection of Rt. 235 and Sotterly Road, travel east on Sotterly Road for approximately 3 miles. Turn right on Steer Horn Neck Road. Helwig Field is approximately 3/4 mile on the left where the hunters parking is. Follow the gravel road down to the field and through the gate.
